Why a Checklist Approach Works Better Than One-Off Fixes

Carbon Monoxide Detectors Are Non-Negotiable

Any home with a gas, oil, or propane heating system must have working carbon monoxide detectors on every level, including near sleeping areas. Test units monthly, replace batteries annually, and replace the entire detector unit every 5–7 years or per the manufacturer's guidance.

Air sealing is often the most underestimated category.
